THE BIG INSIGHT AT THE MOMENT IS THIS OLD CHESTNUT

THERE IS ONLY A SMALL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LITTLE MONEY AND A LOT OF MONEY
BUT
THERE IS A HUUUUUUUUUUGE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NO MONEY AMD A LITTLE MONEY

Currently in a Westfield mall waiting for my bro. This place looks exactly like every other Westfield anywhere in Oz-troll-asia. It really challenges the emoticons.
YOU GOTTA BE ABLE TO SWITCH OFF YOUR SOUL.

Here are a couple of churches spotted on the drive. The first one is near Timaru.

near timaru

church 2 Sometimes a church gets sold and the new owners wonder what to do with it. Well. How about making it a church except this time don’t lock it up for 6 days of the week . This particular one is stunning. I wonder if it’s ever open.

Do you know anything about either of these?

The New Mental

The New Mental

Looking back on the last trip is sobering. Decided this time to proceed with great caution and not lose anything.Still no news of the 1984 strat plus fender that went missing 160ks out of Christchurch out Arthur’s pass way.

We will get it back in due course…of course…its God’s Guitar after all. It’s been stolen twice and recovered in mysterious ways . It’s never been lost on an open highway before though. Just awaiting some info on its serial number and stuff….thats gonna be handy. Stevie star has that info as he once studied GG and is in the process of sourcing a 1984 model just like it.

The reason I lost it – apart from my own carelessness … is due to me not obeying the little voice in my head when there clearly was someone I was meant to lend it to and I didn’t.. shame on me
When I lose some item that’s very important to me I try at once to replace it with something as or almost as good. In this case it’s a Godin 12 string electric acoustic matched with a Mesa boogie amp. It won’t be the same as GG but it is an amazing combination. What’s really great is its bias toward electric with a beautiful tinge of acoustic.. and the amp is perfection. I am paying it off bit by bit. Chriso laid down a hefty deposit and it’s up to me to find the rest.

By the way if the last sentence seems like a hint then I have to admit it is. It would be great to get some gigs to pay it off…. so hire me now just call 021 0259 2919 or head to bandcamp.com where you can find a lot of my sounds. The Jungle EP and the Happy Isles and more.

If you want to get all the music Bandcamp have a discount of 25% for the full bundle

It’s amazing how many times people tell me they like my sounds and I should be better known and they wish they could help.they can. Give us a gig! now!

It’s a political world is it not? Every time I feel like saying something about the little boogie bugster that’s bleeding the life out of our social world and which divides friends and families everywhere …I try to bite my tongue coz I know for sure it’s gonna go down like a turd in a punch bowl. You can’t say a thing without inviting a long discussion or have abuse hurled at you.
Happened to me last week. I raised my concerns and they were identified as conspiracies and I was sworn at and exiled from friends of 25 years standing.

Yes folks. If it’s not the politically obsessed narrative you need courage to voice it. Trouble is we are being asked to trust politicians. It’s a tough balancing act. Must be time to write the lockdown blues?

Feels like it’s near the close of closing time for the old world. What emerges is something vibrant to replace it. Welcome to the new mental.

Invite me to the hood brothers and sisters. Let’s catch up while we are still relatively free to do so. Some gigs

Strat

Lost 80’s Strat – Please return

Hello friendly readers. Hope you are thriving.

Monday (14th Dec ) about 6am and about 160ks from Christchurch* as i drove away from this picnic spot in the direction of Christchurch i heard something slip and fall. * Possibly near the Lewis Pass.

Stopped the car had a look in the backseat assuming the sound was internal. The back hatch was open but it appeared nothing had fallen out and a heavy briefcase in the back seemed to be displaced and this seemed to account for the sound i had heard.

Everything seemed to be in order so i drove on to Diamond Harbour only to discover on arrival that the guitar i needed for the recording session was missing. Only then did it click.

It had fallen out the back way down the line hundreds of Ks away. And it was THE guitar that we affectionately call Gods guitar. Its an 80s fender strat plus. One of the first ever made according to Jeff Becks specs.

It has been lent to many people over the years and returned with many stories associated with its wonderful tone. It’s been stolen twice and recovered by the most amazing circumstances. It seems to just go where it will. So here is my special request to you. Please get the word out.

And below here is a photo of that guitar. If you find it please let me know. It would be great to get it returned. If you are in or near Christchurch it can be sent to audio-centric

Did you have a listen to The Jungle yet. Newest music recording over on Bandcamp

More info on The Jungle is here.

Thanks everyone. Would be great to get the strat back if at all possible.

Dunedin Gigs – Pre Christmas 2020

Hello everyone. I am in Dunedin briefly and need to mention these gigs i am doing this week. Short notice indeed but thats normal with me as promo doesn’t come easily and its the last thing i get around to

Saturday at Adjo 10 Bank St dinner and a show essential to book so if for any reason you cant contact the owners of this lively Danish performance venue then call me directly or text…02102592919 and i will book it myself. Fact is its a tiny venue so we can get away with micro promo.

Adjø is nordic cuisine check the menu
Hosting a show that promos happy isles and the new ep ‘The Jungle’ and thanks Darren Hammond who was the first to buy a copy of The Jungle.

Last person to play here was Delaney Davidson. Also they had Soaked Oats dreampop
Check their website for the promo of the event.

“ADJØ is an intimate licensed cafe and gallery focusing on emerging artists and cuisine from the Nordic kitchen. Our space is here to provide an alternative way to view and experience art, mixing with coffee, live music and delicious food, and looking out to the beautiful botanics”.

Then theres Best Cafe Sunday night…again its dinner and a show.
The Friday night gig is being opened by Natalie Yeoman. It’s a special one so try to make it
Again call me for details 021 0259 2919 if you are free on that night and i can book you in

Let’s see if this super short notice micro promo idea works. Please support original k1w1 music. It’s a huge struggle getting above the corporate white noise and singing about the human touch. Corporate rock is somewhat over represented and the world need little guys like me in the mix and thats where your support comes in .

Please help me get the human vibe out there and if you want me to play in a venue near you write in and tell me who to call lukehurleymusic@gmail.com. Please

subscribe and think about donating or visiting bandcamp.com/lukehurley/The Jungle

New EP The Jungle is finally released this week. Videos for two of the tracks have been updated and links are below.

The Coast

If you haven’t really checked it out then this is a good time to do so. “Coast” is where it’s at. With a population – I am told-of just under 30 thousand there’s a spread spanning Karamea (where nobody has the time to go coz Coast trips don’t often include her on the itinerary) to glacier districts and beyond.

It’s massive and it’s beautiful and experiencing a new gold rush. At this time it’s less about primary produce and more about working remotely in paradise. Once the telco infrastructure is in place we will be able to live anywhere including in this greenies paradise. The last frontier is opening up.
