Great roman story Luke.... i have one involving stupid americans and the Sistine myself..... having traipsed around Europe a few years ago making full use of the student ISIC card i had tentative entitlement to, i was shocked to find that the Vatican was one of the few places in europe that gave no discount for card holders....when advised of this by the ticket seller at the top of that magnificent staircase, i fell back into laconic kiwi humour and commented "well it better be bloody worth it"...delivered with sufficient irony in my voice and a smile that let even the Italian woman behind the counter in on my lack of serious indignation...(there was no way in hell i was going to not see the recently restored Last Judgement)...but from over my shoulder came this cutting voice of an american woman who, failing to realise my sarcasm, proceeded to announce at a high volume "Of course it is you ENGLISH fool this is Da Vincis greatest work!!!".....the collective laughing and chuckling from the almost united nations of others around here hopefully educated her as to her ignorance!!!

hey luke

this is michael. the asian kid who sees you outside starbucks and mt eden foodtown on occasion in auckland. met up with you a few days ago after seeing district 9. im at engineering department atm studying. i was watching “The Sound” music video again, the one by Simon Raby. I’m just blown away by the directorship and the cut scenes on seeing it again. it reminds me a little bit of Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees”. i guess that it takes place in a supermarket and has the whole reincarnation and impermanence and illusion of materialism and post-modernism themes to it. but seriously thats just taking away too much credit to simon and yourself. iv got a ridiculous urge to meet up and rant and discuss the video at 930pm. the whole lighting and shadows effect, illusions, skin care, happiness, and a buske/prophet of the sound and the whole camera angles gives a really intense feeling of urge. probably shouldn be ranting but i was just taken aback upon watching it closely, while listening/watching while studying. I’d be real keen to watch some of simon’s other stuff. i been listening to high risk and reha and keen to get into other of your stuff.

hope you’re well. what you been up to? flick me a buzz

Hi there Luke. I was wondering if my surname seems familiar to you? A few years back (must be 10 years back now) I believe I met you. Just a few days ago I saw your name and noticed you were playing at Reva's this Friday night, I plan to attend and enjoy the evening. Your name looked familiar I think you used to know my father Tony Durack. I'm going to try and contact him and see if he's free to come down on Friday night to also enjoy the sound. Would be good to hear back from you, Cheers. Luke

Hi Luke,

I bought the Brother Sun Sister Moon double album. It was purely based upon when me and my friend saw you playing in a corner of Camden on Monday 16th Dec (I think, it was definitely a Monday). She enjoyed you playing and so did I.

So I bought your album as a Christmas present to her to remember our time there.

I tried to listen to some of your other songs but it wasn't easy. I tried iTunes but it only had previews of your Best Of album, not the rest of your collection. I could only scrap together a kind of preview through videos on YouTube.

But I took a chance on Brother Sun Sister Moon and I'm glad I did.

I really love the raw power and passion that comes from the pure instrumental songs you play.

That was what we heard from you in Camden after all.

Thank you for sharing your music with us. It is incredible stuff.

Regards,

Richie G
